Women Who Dared: Susan B. Anthony

Women's Rights Advocate; first woman to be honored on an American coin
1820-1906

The true republic - men, their rights and nothing more; women, their rights and nothing less.

In 1892, Susan B. Anthony was arrested for challenging the New York election law by casting her vote. A prominent suffragette, Anthony fought for women's rights her entire life, serving as President of  the National American Suffrage Association until she was 80. She also worked tirelessly for abolitionism, education, labor reform, and temperance.
